This easy to moderate circular trail goes through the Pfitschtal Alpine valley at the foot of the Zillertal Alps in two loops, and is a real insiders' tip due to its idyllic location and guaranteed snow. The trail is perfect for both classic and skating-style cross-country skiing and is prepared daily.
The Platschjoch High-Altitude Trail starts just below the mountain station of the Ratschings-Jaufen cable car, at the valley station of the Rinneralm chairlift (3 min. walk). It goes towards the Kalcheralm Alpine farm and then along the forest road to the Jaufenpassstraße road. Cross the road and continue a little way into the area of the Platschjoch mountain. You then loop round to go back down to the Rinneralm.
The Ridnauntal Valley Circular Trail starts in Masseria/Maiern. It goes along the Fernerbach stream down the valley to the hamlet of Braunhöfen, where it goes round in a loop. This is followed by a climb up to Gasse and the Joggelehof farm, where you do a loop and then start on your way back. First you follow the same route back to Ridanna/Ridnaun; then you follow the trail in a number of loops of varying degrees of difficulty back up the valley to Masseria.
